Logistics

Logistics are the circulatory and digestive system for your business. It is at the heart of your ability to move your lifeblood and allows you to act, move, and absorb your suppliers’ nutrients. By examining this system, I have typically found savings by analysing costs per carrier and mode, which then led to efficiencies in minimizing processes that result in an overly bloodletting. Every business is different, but the common theme I saw was that no-one had seen their data this way.

Logistics KPIs:

  • Customer location mapping
  • Network optimisation (where are your warehouses; where should they be?)
  • A visual mapping (percentage graphic) of transportation modes (including, but not limited to: air, third-party carriers, less-than truckloads, full truckloads, ocean, train, multi-modal)
  • A geographic map of suppliers and customers, including modal filters and time filters
  • Top 10 carriers

Here’s an example (we recommend going to full-screen on the bottom-right corner to get a proper view).
